Douai Park Tennis Club is a great place for players to improve their tennis skills and earn their stripes through the LTA Mini Tennis Rally Awards. Sport/Tennis helps children to improve concentration, which translates to better results at school. They also learn valuable life skills through playing tennis.

Children between ages 3 and 11 years old play Mini Tennis.  At Douai Park Tennis Club, group sessions start from just £30.00 per term with courses covering all standards and ages. In Mini Tennis there are individual and team competitions, with scoring extended to short sets. Our programme follows the LTA programme for developing young players.

Rusty Rackets is a new offering from Douai Park Tennis Club. Aimed at all you girls out there who find your tennis is a little rusty; who need to be inspired to pick up the tennis racket once again; or who simply would like to get out on the tennis court in the fair weather and get fit – whilst having a lot of fun at the same time!

This year, for the first time, DPTC will be entering one boy to represent the Club in the County Finals. The 44 County Finals winners, plus the 20 best runners-up will then have the opportunity to compete at the National Finals from 13-18 August 2012.

Requirements:

To enter you must:

1. be a member of DPTC for the  2012 season (Junior or Family)*
2. be aged 14 or under on 31 August 2012; and
3. have an LTA rating – details here

*As membership renewals have not yet gone out, we will assume that all entrants will be renewing their membership.

Timing:

We will be holding a closed singles event, which will be completed by 31 May 2012. Matches will take place during April and May.

The County Finals will take place during June and July.

As we indicated in our May newsletter, we’re pleased to be able to report that we have arranged some regular tennis drills for members plus any non-members you may wish to bring along. Details of our Friday sessions and a possible Saturday session are set out below.

Friday drills

Coach, Mike Gordon will be running drills every Friday from 10th June to 8th July. If demand is there, we may extend beyond this date. Drills willcommence at 08:30 and there will be a charge of £5.00 for members and £6.00 for non-members, payable on the day. No booking required – just turn up, cash in hand.

Saturday drills

Coach, Greg Santoro-Fergusson is available to run a separate drills session on Saturday mornings. We are proposing to charge the same rate as for the Friday session, and as before non-members would also be welcome. However we have not yet had any expressions of interest in this from members and if we are to book Greg then we will need some indication of numbers. If you would be interested therefore, please click here – you will not be committed to attending, but this will enable us to gauge whether there is sufficient interest.
