Letter to the Telegraph

SIR – I feel I should present a cup for competition between the Lawn Tennis Association and ourselves so that they can be sure to win one Davis Cup, whatever the result of the Turkey match in July.

Britain’s Davis Cup Gloom

March 8, 2010 in News by Ben

It’s not really the news we need as the tennis season gets underway again: Britain beaten by Lithuania in the Davis Cup. This means that we are now firmly in the relegation zone, facing a play-off against Turkey. The BBC’s report on the humiliating defeat can be found here. Not surprising that John Lloyd is looking so gloomy. The Times reports that an urgent review is planned.

For pictures of what it feels like to win, see here.

A final thought: Lithuania’s nation tennis budget = £90,000. Britain’s = £30m. Hmmmn.
